My name is Shane Hood. This will be my sixth year at Northpointe and there is nowhere else I would rather be. I think you will find that your child's years at Northpointe will be some of the best and most memorable of their school years.

I graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in education.

I have been married to my wonderful wife for ten years and we have two sons, that are 5 and 7.

When I am not at school, I am usually at the gym or watching my boys play sports. (And of course, watching Alabama football on Saturdays.)

Our goal in PE is to foster students to be physically active for a lifetime. We will focus on their physical health as well as their character.

Feel free to contact me about anything. The fastest way to get a response is through email.

I look forward to a wonderful year!

Roll Tide!

If you are looking for a sport organization for your student to participate in, please look under the link       "Youth Sport Organizations" on the right of this page. I have links to quite a few.

PE Requirements/Permission to miss PE

Physical Activity Requirements In accordance with policies at EHAB, EHAC, EHBG, and FFA, the District will ensure that students in grades 6 – 8 shall engage in 30 minutes of moderate or vigorous physical activity per day for at least four semesters. Physical Education requirements and opportunities at the high school level may be found in the Course Selection Guide. The physical education program is directed by a qualified staff. It is designed to meet the needs of all students who are physically able to attend school. If a child is not physically able to participate in the physical education program for a period of three days or less, a note from the parent is required. For a period exceeding three days, a physician’s statement must be presented to the school nurse and/or physical education teacher. (You can find this paragraph on page 42 of the student handbook)
