My name is Clayton Smith. I teach 6th grade Language Arts. Although I've been teaching for a number of years, this is my first in Tomball and I'm very excited to be here. I was actually born at Tomball Hospital and have lived in the Tomball/Klein area most of my life. I received both a bachelors and masters degree in education from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. Axe'm Jacks!
I'm married to a wonderful lady and together we have 5 children between the ages of 2 and 18. We have 2 boys and 3 girls, Cameron, Grace, Brenden, Peyton, and Lorelai. It is a blessing to have the opportunity to do what I love and because of that, teaching never feels like a job. I'm a huge J.R.R. Tolkien fan, as anyone will witness by simply coming into my classroom. The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit are two of my favorite books, which a friend introduced to me way back in fifth grade. Since then, Fantasy has been my absolute favorite genre for both literature and movies. When I'm not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family, volunteering at our church, playing tennis, and traveling. My wife and I also enjoy several quality tv series and reading.
Although providing quality instruction to children is a large part of my responsibility, one of my priorities is to develop a love for reading in every child and help each one know that they are important and valued. I feel it's important to provide a welcoming and fun classroom for them, so there are lots of toys and posters all around my room. I'm so excited about getting to know you and your child. It truly takes teamwork to achieve the high expectations that we have for our kids. It is truly my pleasure to do my part.
