Meet the NIS School Counselor


Mrs. Diaz-Vela, Counselor at Northpointe Intermediate, has been in Tomball ISD since 2020. Prior to joining Tomball ISD, Mrs. Diaz served in numerous roles, including Bilingual Reading Specialist, Dyslexia Evaluator, and as a counselor in Klein ISD. Before becoming a counselor, she was a classroom teacher at the elementary and secondary level and assisted with the creation of the dual language curriculum where she began her career fifteen years ago. Along with her teaching duties, Mrs. Diaz also sponsored the Spanish National Honor Society.

 

Mrs. Diaz graduated from the University of Houston with a BA in Spanish and BS in Interdisciplinary Studies, earned her MA in Dual Language from St. Thomas University, and her Counseling Certification program from Region IV.

The NIS Guidance and Counseling Department exists to serve all students in becoming productive and
responsible citizens, lifelong learners through academic development, personal and social growth, and
career exploration.


Mission:
The NIS Guidance and Counseling Department will provide a comprehensive and developmentally
appropriate program that addresses students' individual academic and social-emotional needs. We will
build collaborative relationships with families, staff, and community members to support student success.
