"No significant learning occurs without a significant relationship" -Dr. James Carter

My name is Chelsea Smith and I am thrilled to be your 5th grade Science and Social Studies Teacher at NIS! This is my 7th year teaching! I moved to lovely Tomball, Texas from Charleston, South Carolina in 2014. I graduated from the College of Charleston with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. I was also on the Track & Field team where I pole vaulted.  I married my husband, Adam in 2015.  We recently had our first child, Allie, on May 25, 2019.  We just love her so much! We also have 2 dogs, Milli & Woodrow!
My passion for teaching came from when I was just a little girl and had always wanted to help others. As I got older, I realized that helping children, being a mentor and a role model to them is a goal of mine. I became a teacher because I truly believe it is my calling in this life. I have a passion for this profession, for children, for learning, and for our future. It is important for all children to be challenged throughout their educational careers and throughout their lives. A child’s education should prepare them for life. All children should learn to be accountable for their own learning, to collaborate and work together, to be able to support their thoughts, and to make inferences in all subjects. I understand that all children are different and I want every child to succeed and to learn no matter how much hard work it takes. I am confident in my abilities to differentiate, build relationships, and develop proper assessments to make learning an enjoyable success for all students who enter my classroom. I am so happy working at Northpointe Intermediate School, it feels like family!

Go Wildcats!
